SUMMARY:Trout Lake Camp Out
DESCRIPTION:The WVG will hold our 3rd annual Caver’s Campout (aka WR Decompression) Friday October 4th through Sunday the 6th at Trout Lake Creek Campground. \nWe’ll camp at the Trout Lake Creek Campground (off the main road to Deadhorse). Claude will reserve one of the group camps for us (no charge to you to camp there\, feel free to get your own site if you like ($15/night). They have vault toilets. They have no water so bring your own. (there is a beautiful stream if you prefer to filter your water). We’re hoping that campfires will be allowed at the campground.
This is the campground’s website: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/giffordpinchot/recarea/?recid=31960 \nSaturday evening at 7:PM\, if there are enough people interested\, we’ll hold a Western Regional debriefing. It seems a smart idea to hold a brief(?) meeting to discuss what went well\, what didn’t go well and why\, vent your feelings and discuss what might be good ideas for future Regionals. \nAfter all the work that so many people put in to organize the Regional\, we’re not currently ‘planning’ any cave trips (subject to change\, especially after the dust from the Regional has settled). Of course cave trips are sure to take place! Bring your ideas for caves you’d like to check out (Dynamited?\, Deadhorse?\, Pickards Sink?\, JaR and Resurrection?\, etc). Feel free to respond back to this if there’s a cave you’ve been wanting to see or lead a trip to. \nDirections: \nFrom the “Y” in Trout Lake\, go west on WA-141 N\, drive 1.7 miles \nTurn right onto Trout Lake Creek Rd. (Trout Lake Creek Rd becomes Forest Road 88\, this is also the road to Deadhorse)\, drive 4.6 miles \nTurn right onto NF-8810\, drive 1.2 miles
Turn right onto NF-010\, drive .3 miles \nTurn right onto FS-8810-011\, drive 150 feet \nTurn right into Trout Lake Campground. \n——————– \nLook for pie plates that say “WVG” or just drive around till you find us (unless you’re first\, then you’re on your own!). \nNote: their website has slightly different directions than what I’ve posted above. \nIf you use your cell phone to navigate to the campground\, be sure to set it up BEFORE you loose cell reception!
